Shih Tzus are undoubtedly charming little fellows. However, before making a decision to buy a Shih Tzu puppy, a potential owner should strive to get as much information on the breed as possible. Reading books on Shih Tzus and talking to responsible breeders and owners are most helpful means of getting informed and prepared. Keep in mind that the Shih Tzu requires considerable grooming and care efforts.
Find out everything about the genetic heritage of the Shih Tzu puppies, and ask to see all the medical records, as well as the pedigree, and registration papers. While making your choice, see both the sire and the dam. Evaluate the conditions in which the dogs are kept. Responsible breeders start early socializing of the puppies.
